Long lunch at Hummingbird Eatery

I had a nice run (jog?) yesterday morning. I got excited to try out some running stuffs I got the days before so I woke up at 5 in the morning and sort of like waited for the morning to get a little bit warmer. Stepped out of house at 6.30 at last and did a 45 minutes of run in my lime green Nike Anodyne Flywire, purple Converse jogging pants and a pair of pink ankle-high Reebok running socks. Oh and Miley (meet Miley, my iPod touch) came along too.

The air was so fresh and there were not that many joggers around probably because it was Friday. I woke up this morning with some delish body sore. You know, that kind of sore after a good workout. It just feels great.

I was actually planning on getting my long list of assignments done yesterday but then I had a lunch with a very nice old friend at 12. So I put some comfy clothes on and drove myself to the place we agreed to try out, Hummingbird Eatery. It's located around Progo street in Bandung which is a famous street for its cafes and restaurants. You can find Rocca, Fat Panda, Kopi Progo, Tokyo Connection, and many more here you just have to choose. The reason why these places are famous and by famous I mean full and by full I mean you can hardly find a parking is probably because these places are so fancy. Not only the food (decoration, it's the decoration, not so much for the taste in several cafes, see what you've done Instagram), but also the buildings. I mean, come on, one place has this western bar-ish theme, one place has an Asian atmosphere, and the one we were going to try has this bird nest concept. Literally, the tables at the smoking area are in a huge white birdnest.

Wasnt hard at all to find this street, but it was tricky for Hummingbird to be found. The night before, I google mapped the cafe to make sure where it was located and it said it was nearby Gee Eight. So I drove there and I still passed because of the distracting leafs that covered its white sign. And as you could tell, coming there at a lunch hour means A. not getting a table, or B. not getting a parking. Me and my friend got them both. I finally had my car in a parking vallet in a cafe nextdoor, Rocca. While my friend was lucky enough to get her car parked (also vallet) in  the cafe's parking lot.
After the long waiting list, we got a nice table with a cute wallpaper behind and cute table setting and all. We ordered Amazilia pancake (that would be mine), and Rosemary Chicken (that would be my friend's). And mineral water and also some berry tea thing I dont know.
Amazilia pancake had fruits topping on it such as kiwi, peach and strawberry, alongside with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. As a pancake freak, this one was much... thinner, compared to the ones in Le Marly or Nanny's Pavillon, or even Gigglebox and Tree House. But not that it was bad, it was actually delish. The fruits were fresh and tasty, and there was this yellow sause that I liked to swoosh my pancake all over it.
The Rosemary Chicken thing looked pretty nice as well. Since I was a vegan I couldnt try it out but it looked yummy. It was just chicken and some potatoes and side veggies and some sauce. That's it that I can ever describe about the dish. But as I asked my friend, she said it was real yummy. And for your information, on the menu, it was one of the cafe's specials. So... give it a shot.

All in all I'd give it 8 out of 10 but some other things made me change my mind. The staffs and the service (well, which were done by the staffs) were not satisfying. The way they didnt care about us and the other visitors for a table, the way I didnt get much smile but instead cold stressed out faces there, the way we got treated coldly there, those were major dissapointment for me. So in the end, I'd just rate it 5 out of 10. 5 is really just for the nice room. Food was nice but not jaw droppingly great, staffs were terrible and frowny. So... fix it, Hummingbird.
